Private Student Loan Bankruptcy Fairness

Yesterday, Representatives Steve Cohen, Danny Davis and George Miller sent a "Dear Colleague" letter to other members of the House urging them to co-sponsor H.R. 5043, which would make private student loans easier to discharge in bankruptcy. Concern about the unfair treatment of private student loan debt has grown since this bill was introduced, and enough momentum could bring positive change this year.

Even if you have already done so, please tell your representatives in Washington to co-sponsor H.R. 5043 and a similar bill in the Senate (S. 3219). It's time to restore fair treatment for private student loan borrowers in bankruptcy, and we need your help NOW to make it happen!
